MyWebsite "relaunched" - Now with a free Trial Period, and significantly improved capacity.
Currently available to affiliated national class associations, and affiliated clubs, state class associations and Yachting Australia Training Centres in NSW, QLD, SA, TAS and Victoria (other States may be available shortly).
Yachting Australia offers websites for affiliated clubs, affiliated national and state class associations, and Yachting Australia Training Centres. The site is more than just 'space on a server' but includes tools to enable even moderately technical users to create websites that are easy to maintain, and easy to use.
While many clubs, classes and centres have setup websites, quite often they fall into 'disrepair' after the initial enthusiasm disappears, or the person with the technical skills, hardware and software decides to move on, leaving a static site and dwindling readers. The Yachting Australia site requires no specialist hardware or software as all the management software resides on the webserver. There is an online editor (it has a passing resemblance to Microsoft Word), an image library, calendar and a series of pre-set templates that can be used. There is also a message board, classified Ads, HTML newsletter facility, any many features using data stored within MyClub.
A sample of sites that currently are hosted and maintained on the Yachting Australia system are:
The cost of the MyWebsite service is outlined below. Prices start from as low as $125 per annum. The cost per year is $125 for a Club, Class, or non commercial YATC, and $250 for a commercial YATC.
If your club, class association or training centre is interested in a site hosted by Yachting Australia and using the tools available on the site please follow the prompts below.
Unfortunately this service is not currently available for organisations that wish to just use space on the Yachting Australia webserver for the hosting of an existing website and is currently only available for National Class Associations, or Clubs, Classes and YATC's in the States listed above.
Requirements
- For viewing - a standard internet browser
- For editing - It is stongly recommended that people use a PC and Internet Explorer 5.5 or later for editing of the site. While other browsers will work, the 'what you see is what you get' text editor is only available on PCs (please refer questions to Mr Gates to explain why Microsoft put features into their PC version of IE and not into their Unix & Mac versions). For Mac people, we will have a Max version available soon.
Free Trial Period
There is no charge to sign up for a site or for the first 2 - 3 months. This will allow you to try "before you buy" and see if the system is what you are looking for. If you do decided to keep the site, you will be prompted online with an invoice and the ability to pay by online credit card facility, or to print off a cheque and mail to Yachting Australia. Either way, if you decide not to proceed, you will not be charged for this trial period.
Pricing
All figures are inclusive of GST.

There is no limit to the size of the website, although a "reasonable use" policy is included in the terms and conditions. Falling outside this reasonable use policy would include such things as loading lots of high resolution images (normal resolution photos are not a problem), multiple large video or sound files, or running a large World Championship for a major class where significant traffic would result. All of these may incur additional charges or the club may be requested to remove some of these large files. Note that in the past three years of operation, no club has been charged any additional fees or been asked to remove any files.
These fees are not charged until after the first 2-3 months of use. If you decide not to continue use of the website, it will automatically lapse and you will not be invoiced for any usage. If you do proceed, the first year's use is invoiced, prorated to June 30th, and subsequent years you will be invoiced for the full year.
